Are Tesla About To Announce A Mini?

While the world awaits more details of Tesla’s crazy looking Cybertruck, the groundbreaking American technomotor manufacturer may be about to develop a supermini.

The company which was recently revealed to be the highest value motor manufacturer on the planet is looking to make moves into China, this week announcing that they were building a new design studio and research and development centre in the country.

In making that announcement, it appears that the company may have teased plans for a compact vehicle, which would possibly rival Volkswagen’s ID.3.

Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk has previously announced to shareholders two years ago that the company would have a smaller vehicle to rival the Golf within five years and with their official company document for the China project, there appeared a design sketch for an unnamed smaller car.

When Tesla announced plans for a Chinese built Model 3 and Model Y, Musk also discussed his ambition to design a car in China, one which would be available for the global market. He said:  “I think something that would be super cool – and so we’re gonna do it, we’re gonna try to do it – would be to create a China design and engineering center to actually design an original car in China for worldwide consumption.

“I think this will be very exciting. I think China has some of the best art in the world, and I think it’s something that would be appreciated on a worldwide basis. I think it should be done, and we’re gonna do it.”
