With a price tag of £180,000 the new Bentley Continental won’t be within everyone’s spending limits, but it’s worth a look to see the luxury on offer from the classic British brand.

With a top speed of 207mph, Bentley are celebrating the 100th year of their existence in style, by removing the roof so that drivers can feel the wind in their hair at record-breaking speeds.

The new Continental GT Cabriolet is all about the speed, moving from 0 to 60mph in just 3.7 seconds, the roof is even pacey, retracting in 19 seconds, even at speeds of 30mph.

Though Bentley may be owned by German car giant Volkswagen, the launch of the Continental comes from the 4,000 strong workforce of the company’s Crewe plant, which according to the promo material makes it a luxury vehicle ‘designed, engineered and handcrafted in Britain’.

Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive Adrian Hallmark said: “We have been building luxury Grand Tourers since the company was founded in 1919 and, as we approach our centenary year, the Continental GT Convertible joins a highly acclaimed range – arguably the strongest and most technologically advanced portfolio of products the world has ever seen in one luxury brand.”

He added: “The extraordinary breath of capabilities offered by the new Continental GT Convertible is unique and can only be offered by our noble British brand: elegant understatement that forces you to look and engineering excellence you'll take for granted.”
