BMW Most Likely To Be Involved In Accidents Abroad Says Research

Thu 9th Aug 2018

Some cars are more likely to be involved in accidents abroad than others says the latest research, though that may say more about the drivers than the actual cars.

The German beast BMW is the most common car to be in an accident according to a study of Admiral insured drivers, the German manufacturer’s cars were involved in 10% of claims in 2017. There is something of a German theme to the top ranked cars, with Volkswagen (9%) and Audi (9%) completing the top three.

Volkswagen’s Golf is the most popular car to be involved in accidents on the continent, with 3%, followed by the Land Rover Range Rover and VW Passat.

The study also shows that drivers aged between 35-44 make the most claims while driving abroad (29%), though that may be because that age group is most likely to be on the road in other countries, backed up by the fact that drivers aged 17-24 make the fewest claims (6%).
