Jaguar F-Pace
For a brand which is famed for sleek, speedy sports cars and luxurious saloons, the growing global demand for SUVs and crossovers must have caused headaches at many a board meeting.
Where BMW, Mercedes and Audi had already made the bold step into a market, which had previously been the domain of big American trucks and Japanese imports, Jaguar had remained conservative - up until 2015.
The launch of the F-Pace saw Jaguar arrive into the market in style. Taking the best of their famous saloons, and the engine power of their best sports cars and combining that on top of a sturdy 4x4 system, in doing so created a real beast of an SUV.
‘Performance meets practicality’ says Jaguar’s own marketing collateral and the critics certainly agreed, after impressive first-year sales in excess of 45,000, the car followed that up by being named the 2017 World Car of the Year.
