One of the UK’s most consistently popular cars, the Vauxhall Corsa, has been celebrated as one of the most outstanding motors of the year at a major awards evening.
The News UK Motor Awards sees readers of The Sun and The Sunday Times vote in a number of categories for their favourite car, and the Corsa claimed the title of Value Car of the Year.
The Corsa, which is once again the best selling car of the year across all models is now in its fifth generation after first being unveiled to the public in 1993. In 2021 the Corsa is fully up-to-date with the times with a fully-electric Corsa-e, as well as petrol and diesel versions.
“The Vauxhall Corsa is the standout winner of the Value Car of the Year,” said Rob Gill, Motors Editor of The Sun. “It is no surprise that the Corsa is the UK's best-selling car so far this year, as it comes packed with comfort features and tech that you need at a sensible price. The Corsa is also great fun to drive, whether you chose electric, petrol or diesel.”
The Corsa-e was voted The Sun Car of the Year in 2020, with its 209 mile range, affordability and fun driving dynamics commended. The EV includes a 50kWh battery and a 100kW motor and can be charged to 80 per cent of power within 30 minutes.
Paul Willcox, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the Vauxhall Corsa to be recognised as the UK’s Value Car of the Year, and we would like to thank all the readers of The Sun and The Sunday Times that voted for it. The Corsa has been part of the British automotive landscape for almost 30 years and now the fully-electric version is helping drive Britain to a more sustainable motoring future.”
