Could This Car App Save You Thousands?

A new mobile phone app could help drivers stay up-to-date with their car ‘admin’ and in the process help them save money and avoid the heavy hand of the law.

The Caura app is approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and after entering your car registration plate number will allow drivers to see a wealth of information on their motor including the status of the car’s tax, MOT and insurance renewal dates. The app could even help drivers pay for parking, toll roads and congestion charges so that they don’t get hit with automated fines or the dreaded Penalty Charge Notices.

“The billions of pounds in penalty fees UK consumers incur from mistakes or late payments for parking, congestion charges, road tax, tolls, MOT and insurance are totally avoidable,” said Caura founder Dr Sai Lakshmi.

“The incumbent system – fragmented, confusing and outdated – is not only costly but a massive source of anxiety. By eliminating the need for dozens of apps and services, we are removing hassle, confusion and unnecessary expenses of car ownership.”

Lakshmi has good form in revolutionising outdated systems after launching an app that works with the NHS to help hundreds of thousands of Brits order repeat prescriptions.

Caura’s research says that a quarter of all UK MOTs are conducted late meaning that 8 million cars on the road have potentially dangerous defects.
