One of the most influential motor consumer surveys has been dominated by cars from the Far East.
The Auto Express Driver Power list takes the opinions and experiences of up to 60,000 car owners and asks them to rate key factors in owning a car, such as performance, comfort, practicality, safety and running costs. The comprehensive analysis provides a detailed guide as to which cars are providing the most customer satisfaction, whilst at the same time giving manufacturers an insight into what the car buying market is looking for.
Of the top ten cars in the Driver Power list, seven were from either Japan or Korea, with the Kia XCeed coming top of the list, followed by the Mazda CX-5 and the Kia Rio, the Hyundai Kona and Skoda Kodiaq completed the top five.
Kia come out best in the survey, with the Sportage completing a hat-trick of cars in the top ten, and speaking about the domination of car from the Far East, Auto Express Editor-in-chief, Steve Fowler said: “It’s clear that far eastern manufacturers like Kia are extending their appeal over European badges in terms of the long-term ownership experience, while the appearance of an EV in the top ten for the first time is another sign that electric cars are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
"But, despite the dominance of the overall top ten by far eastern brands, a number of European names continue to win in the premium car segments, with notable performances by Volvo, Jaguar and Mercedes."
In addition to having three cars in the top ten, Kia also saw the Picanto named Best City Car and the Ceed Best Compact Family Car.
