Ford Goes All Out For Electric Buyers

Concerns over charging points and the cost of electricity could be put to one side for those wanting to switch to electric vehicles, thanks to an innovative scheme from Ford.

In an effort to persuade more consumers to consider the company’s new plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles, Ford have teamed up with Centrica to ensure that all buyers of Ford EVs can take advantage of a wallbox charger and a customised energy deal.

The deal will be available across Ford’s network of UK dealers, with Centrica ensuring that that an approved installer will fit the charger into the owner’s property and will also work with British Gas on an energy deal which will save money by charging the vehicle overnight.

“Ford is committed to delivering one of the most comprehensive line-ups of electrified vehicles for our customers, powered through the Ford home charger wallboxes,” Ford of Britain’s managing director Andy Barratt said.

“With [Centrica]'s scale, experience and access to the electric grid, our partnership will enable us to offer a one-stop shop for our customers as they transition to an electrified vehicle, including exciting new vehicle options, wallbox, installation service and electricity tariff.”

Ford will launch a Ford Fiesta and a Focus to their ‘mild-hybrid’ range later this year, with an electric SUV capable of achieving a range of 370 miles also in the offing.
