Get Ready For The Fastest Range Rover Ever

Thu 15th Mar 2018

Range Rover is almost ready to put the Velar SVR into production to be ready for sale in October. But this is a SUV that won’t be hanging around!

With a 5.0-litre V8 engine under the bonnet, this high performance Range Rover is without a doubt their fastest model yet and can be expected to go from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds. There are rumours that Land Rover are sticking a Jaguar engine into this beast, which makes sense and will give the Velar SVR a very impressive 542bhp.

JLRs exclusive Special Vehicle Operations team are currently testing the new Velar at Nurburging and it’s expected that this will be the cheapest vehicle produced by the SVO department – even if it is the quickest.

That quickness owes much to the weight-saving gains coming from the aluminium based frame, ensuring it is almost 500kg lighter than its Range Rover Sport SVR cousin.

It’s no surprise that comparisons are being made with the Jaguar F-Pace which is being produced with the same principles and technology. You might question why they are making two very similar cars, but the answer comes down to which target market each vehicle is marketed to? Obviously the Jaguar is aimed at those who like to stick to the road, whilst the Range Rover, well it likes to go across more rough terrain.

If you are thinking of purchasing the fastest Range Rover ever then be prepared to pay around £90,000, which may sound a bit steep, but when compared against the £100k you will pay for the Sport SVR is something of a snip.
