Get Your Skate On Say Citroen

Tue 5th Oct 2021

French car manufacturer Citroen have unveiled a typically wacky and bizarre vision for the future of urban mobility - the Citroen Skate.

In partnership with Accor and JCDecaux it is hoped the brave project will change perceptions of how we go about our daily lives as city-dwellers. The USP of the Skate is that it can be adapted to include a variety of different service pods, offering different travel experiences, and according to Citroen the pods can be changed in a matter of seconds.

The three pods on display as Citroen launched their Urban Collëctif were the Sofitel En Voyage, the Pullman Power Fitness and the JCDecaux City Provider.

The Sofitel En Voyage has been designed to carry two to three passengers with the aim of bringing the Accor hotel experience to mobility, featuring French furniture and haute couture, described as spectacular and statuesque.

Also by Accor is the Pullman Power Fitness, which is essentially a gym on wheels, allowing the passenger to do a workout using the rowing machine and exercise bike within, ensuring they can get fit while commuting.

Finally the JCDecaux City Provider has been inspired by the street furniture which is so iconically linked with the outdoor advertising company. The City Provider has two open spaces facing each other, sheltered under a green planted room, offering a comfortable and bright environment.

“At Citroën, we examine medium and long-term trends to anticipate consumer expectations and needs,” said Citroen Global CEO, Vincent Cobee. “We believe that this new concept can redefine the framework of urban mobility: shared, electric and autonomous. With the solution we are presenting in partnership with Accor and JCDecaux, we are inventing autonomous mobility for all.”
