Hyundai i30 Rated Most Reliable Family Car

Mon 10th Sep 2018

More than 18,000 car owners have been surveyed by a major poll which has revealed the Hyundai i30 as the most reliable family car.

The 2018 What Car? Reliability Survey is widely regarded as one of the most influential indicators of the motoring public’s perception of vehicles, and looks at individual ratings from 159 models across 31 different car brands.

Though the 2012-2017 second generation Hyundai i30 is no longer for sale as brand new, there are still plenty of used options available, and they are likely to get snapped up following its performance in the What Car? Survey.

The i30 achieved a total score of 98.9% in the survey, which focuses on cars aged between one and four years old. Hyundai have already seen a host of awards for the i30 during its time on the stands, including Best Family Car in 2012. An added feather in the cap for Hyundai was that most problems were dealt with free of charge.

The current Audi A3 diesel was second in the Family Car category, achieving a score of 98.4%, though the petrol version didn’t fare so well, down the list in 17th with 93.6%.

Third place went to the latest generation Skoda Octavia diesel, and the family car category was a big success for the Czech manufacturer, the petrol version was ninth and the Skoda Rapid finished tenth in the list.

Not so great news for the Peugeot brand, as they bottomed out on the list of 27 cars.
