Hyundai Motor UK has been named Eco Fleet Manufacturer of the Year at the 2022 Business Car Awards, a celebration of excellence in the fleet sector judged by a panel of independent experts.
The prize is awarded to the brand that offers fleet partners the best options to reduce their carbon footprint while also demonstrating a comprehensive approach to environmental concerns.
Hyundai's fleet-friendly choice is extensive, with ten unique EV, PHEV, self-charging hybrid, 48v hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, ranging from the IONIQ 5 to the KONA Electric to the SANTA FE Plug-in Hybrid.
No other firm offers as many powertrain alternatives, and it's paying off. Corporate purchasers in the UK are ordering 76% of EV and PHEV vehicles, a substantial jump from the 2021 percentage of 51%. Across Europe, this has led to an estimated average passenger fleet CO2 emission of 90g/km in 2021, a reduction of more than a third from the 2010 figure of 134g/km.
The IONIQ 5, which was named the 2022 World Car of the Year, delivers quick charging capacity and extra room on the E-GMP platform in addition to V2L, a cabin technology that enables charging a laptop and conducting business in the vehicle. Because of its zero-emissions characteristics, the vehicle is enhanced by environmentally friendly materials such as seat fabric made of recycled PET bottles, bio materials sourced from sugar cane and corn for the seat, headlining, and carpet fabrics, and recycled paper for the door graphics.
Hyundai has launched several initiatives to reduce its emissions, waste, and water usage, in addition to establishing partnerships with groups such as Healthy Seas, a group committed to cleaning up the oceans, to showcase its environmentally conscious nature.
“The fact that Hyundai offers fully electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid models has given fleet buyers the choice they need and all with minimal waiting times,” said Business Car magazine editor, Martyn Collins. “On top of impressive product, Hyundai has taken time to educate buyers on how best to use them, by providing clear information on the financial and eco-friendly benefits of an electrified fleet.”
