One of the UK’s most famous motoring brands is to make a historic return with an all-new electric commercial van.
Morris Commercial Vehicles, producers of such iconic cars as the Morris Minor and the Morris Marina, has revealed plans for an electric version of their distinctive J-Type van, named the JE-Type due to its electric credentials.
A UK-based management team have acquired the rights to the old Morris Commercial name and this week teased an image of the JE-Type, which with old fashioned curves promises to pay tribute to the classic which was produced by the English manufacturer from 1948 to 1961.
Promising an all-carbonfibre body for reduced weight, the electric van will be targeting businesses and private buyers looking for an eco-friendly solution to their commercial needs.
The new Commercial JE-Type has been in the pipeline since 2017 and more details are expected to be revealed later in 2019, but what we do know about the new Morris Commercial company is that they are based out of Worcester and have highly experienced team of designers according to CEO and founder, Dr Qu Li, who said: “I am so pleased to reach this stage after over two years of intense development. It’s been a fantastic journey and I am extremely proud of what the whole Morris Commercial team and its incredible suppliers have achieved. The working engineering prototype has undergone extensive road testing and the end of 2019 is an amazing conclusion to the first phase of the project.”
