Influential Car Magazine Names It’s Top Ten EVs

One of the UK’s leading motoring publications has moved with the times and given its rating to the top ten electric vehicles currently on the market.

What Car? which has long been a trusted source of independent information on the British car buying market has published a list of the top ten EVs, some of which are affordable and some of which are at the top end of the range.

With cost, range and reliability all key concerns for many potential electric car buyers, the fact that What Car? Is now able to let buyers know the top ten is a major signal that electric cars are no longer a fad.

And it is not a pursuit of the well-heeled either, with the No.1 electric car on the list the Renault Zoe, performing well for range, charge times and even affordability for second-hand versions.

“Despite the potential battery leasing costs, the Renault Zoe is still one of the more affordable electric cars on the market and, thanks to an improved battery from 2015 onwards, the range is decent too,” the What Car? review said.

“Being similar in size to a Clio, the Zoe can be more than just a second car. The boot is a decent size and can accommodate a pushchair without issue, plus there’s enough rear seat room for children.”

Second on the list of top EVs comes possibly at the other end of the affordability scale, but the multi-award winning Jaguar I-Pace broke the mould for the British company being one of their first electric vehicles and SUVs. With a range of 250 miles between charges, the I-Pace is perhaps the most sought after luxury EVs currently on the market.

The Volkswagen e-Golf comes in third place to complete the podium placings.
