What is the most important factor you consider when choosing a new car? According to a major new survey from Citroen, comfort is the key.

The French car manufacturer has found that comfort is second only to the price when it comes to motorists choosing their new vehicle, and a nice comfy seat is the most important thing of all.

“Despite the ongoing crisis, UK drivers are still spending almost six hours each week behind the wheel,” said Citroen UK’s marketing director. “Our research shows that over a third of motorists wish their cars were more comfortable, and at Citroën we’re committed to ensuring that comfort is a priority – covering a wide range of measures that help promote health and well-being.

“With the advent of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, we have set about redefining the concept of modern comfort to fit your requirements, including the feeling of space on-board, connectivity, ergonomic design, and a smooth, comfortable drive.”

In the survey, along with seat comfort, leg room (55%) and ambient temperature (46.6%) were considered the three principal features of cabin comfort.

And when those who are looking to buy a new car, comfort is almost a prerequisite with 85.2 believing comfort was a priority.

Citroen announced the survey to help publicise their new Advanced Comfort Programme, offering seats with broad cushions and seat backs and high density foam at the heart of each seat.
