Kia Reveals New EV SUV Details

Sun 28th Aug 2022

Innovative Korean car brand Kia has announced new details of the successor to the multi-award winning EV6.

The all-new EV9, will succeed the EV6, one of the most ground-breaking all-electric vehicles of the brand, which has garnered a variety of critical awards, including the prestigious European Car of the Year 2022 award.

Ahead of its world debut in 2023, Kia has divulged information about the final extensive testing procedure of the new electric SUV. The Kia EV9 will become the company's flagship vehicle and will transform the large electric SUV sector as a whole, while accelerating Kia's brand transformation and bolstering its leadership in sustainable electric mobility.

Every aspect of the EV9’s design, performance, range, driving dynamics, technology, and comfort is being pushed to the limits of durability at Kia’s global Namyang R&D center in Korea, where development took 44 months.

During this final testing stage, the EV9 is put through a rigorous verification procedure on a 4WD climbing hill and rough terrain course to ensure maximum reliability in even the most difficult scenarios. Even in the most demanding situations, Kia's high-speed, handling, and low-friction tracks put every element of the EV9's performance and roadholding under close inspection. At the same time, the most demanding tests on Kia's cobblestone-lined streets in Brussels are used to gauge the EV9's ride comfort and quality. In addition to testing at the Namyang R&D Centre, like all Kia models, the EV9 has been subject to a rigorous testing programme all over the world.

The Kia Concept EV9, which was revealed at AutoMobility LA in Los Angeles last year, gave the world a first look at the brand's newest flagship car. The EV9 production version, which will be the ultimate SUV in terms of what can be achieved, will represent Kia's groundbreaking new design language 'Opposites United.' The Kia EV9 will be the first electric vehicle created on Kia's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that will establish a new era of sophisticated, high-tech, environmentally friendly transportation.
