British supercar manufacturer McLaren have stunned motoring enthusiasts with the launch of their brand new luxury vehicle, the Speedtail.
With a top speed of 250mph, and capable of reaching 106mph in just 12.8 seconds, the Speedtail is sure to be coveted by Britain’s richest car collecters, but if you haven’t got your order in already you are out of luck, the company is only producing 106 examples, and they are all sold already.
Those lucky enough to drive away in a McLaren Speedtail will experience the feeling of 1035 horse power at their command, and with the return of the 90s McLaren F1 layout of three seats, and the driver sat in the middle, it will be an enthralling experience for driver and passenger alike.
The stunning looking car comes with a teardrop shaped cockpit, which due to an automatic gearbox allows the driver to enter either side of the vehicle. Other eye-catching features include fixed-cover front wheels which help the flow of air through the engine. There are also no wing-mirrors due the Speedtail employing high-tech cameras that provide real-time images to screens mounted in the dashboard.
Production of the Speedtail is set to begin towards the end of 2019, and executives are clearly delighted to showcase their latest creation.
“McLaren has never built a vehicle like the Speedtail before,” said the company’s CEO, Mike Flewitt. “As our first ‘Hyper-GT’, the Speedtail is the ultimate McLaren road car; a fusion of art and science that combines an astonishing maximum speed with an iconic central-driving position and a truly pioneering approach to bespoke personalisation. A ground-breaking hybrid powertrain sits within a lightweight carbon fibre body reminiscent of sleek ‘streamliners’ that once set world speed records, while the luxurious three-seat cockpit offers a sublime combination of an incredible driving experience, unmatched individualism and innovative materials never seen before in a road-going vehicle.”
