MINI To Tease New Look

Mon 20th Jun 2022

Iconic British car brand MINI is set to unveil an electric crossover concept next month, one which will set the tone for the company’s new design language as they head towards an all-electric future.

MINI are set to launch electric versions of their popular hatchback and Countryman models in the very near future, but the new-look concept promises a radical new look.

The concept will be produced as part of the new Spotlight partnership between BMW and  Great Wall Motor in China, and is expected to sit beneath the Countryman as a more compact SUV.

Whilst introducing a new design language for the brand, the MINI press release also suggested that the future will also allow for much more individuality for each different model, with each car having ‘independent vehicle personalities’. One of the ways that MINI will achieve this is by giving an ‘individual light signature’ for each model.

“We combine the core of the MINI DNA with innovative, aesthetic and technological inspiration in our new design language,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. “This means that every new MINI remains a genuine and at the same time future-proof original.”

“Purely electrically powered models from MINI give us a unique opportunity to rethink our design. At the same time, we retain the attention to detail, sense of tradition and passion for innovation that MINI is renowned for.

“The future of MINI design is based on the courage and determination to shape change and stamp a distinctive and inimitable profile on the brand.

Under the banner of Charismatic Simplicity, the company is also focusing heavily on sustainability, and will be conscious of the current supply-chain issues felt across the industry when it announces that the aim is to reduce the number components in a vehicle, but with a clearly designed interior an ‘intuitive functionality’.
