New Index Says Tesla Drivers Happiest

Thu 23rd Jun 2022

A new study of satisfaction ratings in the automotive industry has revealed which cars are best rated by drivers in Europe and the United States.

There are a number of customer satisfaction surveys published through the year, many with a high level of authority, however most of them generally have a different car or brand at the top of the list.

Without accusing those publications of fixing the results to suit their editorial aims, it can sometimes confuse car buyers as to which cars are actually best in their field.

But the team at Zutobi, an motoring editorial website, believe they have solved the problem, by bringing together the results from all sources to make an ‘ultimate’ list. The index, includes ratings from review sites such as Parkers, HonestJohn, Autotrader and Edmunds, to bring together a comprehensive list.

The Tesla Model 3 comes top of the list according to Zutobi, with an average rating of 4.53 out of 5. The Volvo VC40 (4.5) and Ford Puma (4.43) complete the top three.

At the other end of the scale, and the review sites ranked the Perodua MYVI as the worst car based on owner ratings. The Malaysian brand is rarely seen on British shores, and with a score of 2.8 out of 5 it is easy to understand why. The MYVI, which is effectively a rebadged Daihatsu Sirion, is actually the top selling car in its home nation, and has been for the past eight years.

The Zutobi index also rated brands, and again Tesla came top of the list, with the report saying: ‘Tesla has scored the highest average ratings from all the brands on our list, with a 4.53 average rating. Tesla is an American automotive company specializing in the design and manufacture of electric vehicles and has skyrocketed in popularity over recent years.’. Land Rover and Mazda came in second and third.
