On this day in auto history – April 8th

Thu 8th Apr 2021

On this day in 2004, the one millionth Skoda Fabia was driven off a production line and handed over to a customer in the UK.

First produced in 1996, the supermini - alongside its’s hugely popular stablemate, the Octavia - has been credited with leading Skoda’s renaissance in the UK, having previously been one of the most unloved marques on British roads.

The Czech Republic company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volkswagen in 2000 and has never looked back since with profits and global sales rising annually.

Today Skoda’s are being sold in over 100 countries and the phenomenal success of the Fabia saw it pass 3 million sales in 2012.
