Tue 2nd Feb 2021

On this day in 1946, Rover’s famous plant in Solihull was officially opened by high-profile politician Sir Stafford Cripps.

Originally named the 'Meteor Works', the factory began by producing the Rover P4.

Later, it went on to manufacture many of Rovers’ most famous vehicles until the late 1970’s, as well as being the development site of both the Land Rover and the Range Rover.

Having benefitted from massive investment since the turn of the century, Solihull’s state-of-the-art facility continues manufacture the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport today.

CarSupermarket.com currently stocks a wide range of Land Rover models, all of which can be purchased online from the comfort of your living room and delivered direct to your door anywhere in mainland Britain.
