On this day in auto history – June 9th

It was on this day in 2010 that the Nissan Juke was first launched in Japan.

Initially unveiled as a concept car at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, the subcompact crossover surpassed expectations by receiving almost 11,000 orders in its first month, easily surpassing Nissan’s modest monthly target of 1,300.

Just a few months later, monthly Japanese sales had increased to 20,000 whilst European and US figures also exceeded expectations, with orders exceeding 30,000 and 17,500 for their respective markets.

Since a revised model was launched in 2015, the Juke has continued to sell well, particularly in Europe, where it is Nissan’s second best-selling car behind the ever-popular Qashqai.
