It was on this day in 2015 that 42-year-old Shaun Davis from Northampton was jailed for 28 months after terrifying mobile phone footage emerged of him driving at 192mph on an A-road.
Davis reached that speed - the highest ever recorded by a speeding driver in the UK - on a stretch of the A45 in Northamptonshire in a £80,000 Nissan GT-R.
Police found the mobile phone footage amongst “multiple videos” of him speeding in a variety of high-performance sports cars after originally arresting him on an unrelated matter.
Though he denied a total of 12 charges, Davis was found guilty of four counts of dangerous driving and sentenced to 28 months in prison as well as being banned from driving for 10 years.
Davis’ 23-year-old daughter - a passenger at the time of the main offence - was found guilty of encouraging dangerous driving and was handed a two-year driving disqualification.
