Outstanding Reaction To New Range Rover

The fifth generation Range Rover which was launched to an expectant public last month has won over the critics, and according to the company’s UK Sales Manager, the public love it too.

While the car was originally unveiled in October last year, it wasn’t until last week that motoring journalists finally got to experience the latest version of a British classic for themselves.

Unfortunately anyone wanting to order a new Range Rover will have to wait more than a year to get behind the wheel, the order book opened last year, but the semiconductor shortage means that some order won’t be fulflled for at least 12 months.

Speaking to CoventryLive, the Jaguar Land Rover UK sales director, Paddy McGilacuddy said that the public reaction to the new SUV has been ‘outstanding’. He said: “It’s fantastic and exciting for all of us, for all our teams, all our network partners. This is the fifth generation Range Rover so it has been around for close to 50 years. Just to have the privilege of bringing the fifth generation to market is an absolute honour.

“And the customer reaction to new Range Rover has been absolutely outstanding. The testament is the number of orders.

“We have seen 10,000 in the UK market so we are sold out well over 12 months. If someone came in today there would probably be a 12-month lead time for a new Range Rover order.”

In the same interview McGilacuddy revealed that with different trims and models available, the average spend on a new Range Rover is a little under £99k - a big price for a long wait.

“We have seen a great reaction. Autobiography is the most popular trim and there is 25 per cent take up on plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) models.

“The average order value is about £125,000, significantly up on the prior model and people are making sure they choose the right car for their own needs.”
