Peugeot’s Latest Hi-Tech Saloon To Be Revealed At Geneva Motor Show

Sun 11th Feb 2018

The latest Peugeot saloon, the 508, looks set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, in early March, and rumours are that its styling will be a shift-change from its current look and spec.

Whilst official details of the 508’s new design have not been revealed, it’s expected that design features will lean heavily on the Instinct concept which the company unveiled at the 2017 Geneva event. The main element of that sleek design was the coupe style roofline.

It’s the prospect of the new tech which has got many expecting big things of the new-look 508. PSA CEO Carlos Tavares has long teased the prospect of semi-autonomous driving features such as automatic steering and braking – and with sales of the current 508 falling 39 per cent in 2017, the French manufacturer will want to pull something special out of the bag.

Competing in a market that already has big players such as the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insignia, the 508 has had a unique edge since being launched in 2011, mainly due to its diesel hybrid version of the vehicle. Speculation suggests that the new generation 508 will have a plug-in hybrid variant.

The saloon market has been impacted heavy by SUVs and crossovers in recent years, so it will be interesting to see what bold steps Peugeot take when the 508 rolls-up at Geneva on March 6th.
