Polestar Concept Sells Out

Tue 6th Sep 2022

Swedish EV innovators Polestar have announced that they have sold out their first allocation of slots on the 6 LA Concept, a stunning futuristic based the O₂  which was revealed earlier this year.

The Polestar 6, will be followed by three more EVs over the next five years. Polestar will introduce Polestar 3, the world's first all-electric performance SUV, in October 2022. Following Polestar 3 in 2023, Polestar 4, the first all-electric performance SUV coupe, and Polestar 5, the first all-electric performance four-door GT based on the Precept concept car, will debut in 2024.

Within a week of the announcement of production, all 500 build slots for the electric roadster concept were reserved online at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance events in California.

Polestar 6 LA Concept edition will go on sale in 2026 in Sky blue, Polestar O₂ concept car's unique colour – and several other significant feature.

“The high interest from our customers shows that a stunning electric roadster like Polestar 6 has high relevance in the sportscar arena,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “The open-top-plus-electric combination is clearly one that appeals to even the most die-hard petrolheads.”

Polestar plans to open reservations on build slots for regular versions of Polestar 6 later in 2022, which will be produced after the initial 500 LA Concept edition cars have been built.

Speaking to Autocar Ingenlath said that his ambition is for the LA Concept to underline the brand’s place as the No.1 luxury sports brand.

“The energy and vision that it brings into the company definitely drives us,” said Ingenlath. “We made the Precept a reality with the Polestar 5, and that’s the result of us daring to go out with that vision.

"The propulsion of an electric drivetrain is great for a sports car. And then to do it when an open-roof concept, when everybody dreams about ‘the fresh air, the breeze, being closer to nature’ - it’s a perfect fit to have that with an electric drivetrain, and not only have fresh air when you arrive at it, but you’ll leave it for the people behind you.

“Electric propulsion is absolutely a perfect fit for a roadster, so I would love to put an exclamation mark that the future of driving an open roadster has to be electric.”
