Porsche Launches Retro 50s-Style 911

Tue 2nd Jun 2020

German supercar brand Porsche has unveiled  a 1950s style limited edition Heritage design 911, which comes with a decidedly 2020 price tag.

The 911 Targa 4S was made available to order this week, priced at a hefty £136,643 and accessorized with an optional extra matching designer watch for an additional £10,000.

There will be just 992 Targa 4S produced, the number matching the internal model series designation for the forthcoming new 911. The car is one of four special Heritage Design cars which will pay tribute to classic Porsches from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

Sports car fans will love the Cherry Metallic paint job, which includes white and gold badge logos and graphics in a throwback to an era when Porsche dominated motorsports.

Porsche chairman Oliver Blume said: “We are evoking memories of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s in customers and fans with the Heritage Design models.

“In this way, we are fulfilling the wishes of our customers. With the exclusive special editions, we are also establishing a new product line which stands for the ‘lifestyle’ dimension in our product strategy.”

For those with money in the bank to afford the retro-cool style of the 911 Targa 4S, the option of a one-off watch designed using the style of the speedometer and five-spoke alloy wheels might be tempting too.
