Twenty years on from launch and the Toyota Prius is still a critical success, with two further accolades added to its roster this week.
Widely regarded as the the world’s first and highest selling PHEV, the Prius has been awarded a Gold Winner as Car of the Year at the Auto Express Driver Power survey 2019, the Prius also collected Compact Family Car of the Year at the same event.
The Driver Power awards are highly regarded due to the fact that the results are based on the real-world experiences of thousands of UK motorists.
Now in its fourth generation, the Toyota Prius has continued to innovate and now includes a bespoke all-wheel drive system, in addition to the introduction of the new Toyota New Global Architecture which provides advancement in ride handling, safety, design and driver rewards.
Andrew Cullis, Toyota GB Marketing Director, said: “Prius has won many awards over the years, but success in the Driver Power survey is particularly significant as it directly reflects the great satisfaction owners have in their vehicle. Their enthusiasm and appreciation demonstrates how Prius remains the touchstone for the benefits our self-charging hybrid technology and our commitment to making ever-better cars.”
