Small Is Beautiful For Fiat

Tue 13th Sep 2022

The New Fiat 500 fully-electric vehicle has been honoured as the best small electric car at the What Car? 2022 Electric Car Awards.

The car's smile-inducing performance, attractive price point, and design were praised by the judges.

“The Fiat 500 quells any notion that a small electric car should look or feel basic,” said Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car? “Plus, it's well priced and no rival is as good at tackling the cut and thrust of city traffic while putting a smile on your face. In short, it perfectly encapsulates what's needed from a modern urban runaround”.

The first fully-electric model in its history, the New Fiat 500 boasts a range of best-in-class features, including Level 2 Autonomous Driving technologies and a driving range of up to 199 miles (WLTP).

The 500 new also has fast charging capabilities, allowing the battery to recharge to 80 percent in just 35 minutes. In addition, 30 miles of range can be achieved in just five minutes.

With three trim levels (Action, Icon, and La Prima) and convertible options available from Icon trim down, the New 500 offers a wide range of entry levels.

Greg Taylor, UK Managing Director for Fiat and Abarth, said: “If New 500 being the most accoladed Fiat of all time wasn’t enough of a statement, seeing our first-ever fully-electric car secure back-to-back titles is an incredible achievement, highlighting the impression that it continues to have across the industry since its launch in 2020.”

The What Car? accolade comes on the back of last month’s City Car of the Year award at the Auto Express awards. The iconic supermini has also recently passed a significant 100k sales landmark around the world.
