Supercar Written Off In Christmas M62 Smash

An Italian supercar worth almost £300,000 has become a victim of the wet weather this festive season after sliding off the road on the M62 near Liverpool.

It was the Christmas present one unfortunate car owner could do without, though the driver was perhaps lucky enough to escape unhurt from the crash when his Lamborghini worth £280,000 was completely written off.

The Lamborghini Aventador was a star of the Transformers movie, but this car was quickly transformed into scrap following the incident near Hutton, Liverpool.

Merseyside Police criticised drivers ‘rubbernecking’ and shouting at the police during the accident recovery The Merseyside Road Policing Unit tweeted: “Junction 5 - 6 has a lane 1 closure due to a minor injury RTC. Please give us some space as you drive past as revving your engine and shouting at us won't speed up the reopening process.”

The same police force later warned that those drivers who failed to adhere to the red Xs on the motorway should expect a penalty enforcement letter in the post in the New Year.

The Aventador has been a supercar available from Lamborghini since 2011 and the latest generation was launched in 2017 with 1,286 units sold of a vehicle which accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph.
