The Cars That Money Can’t Buy – Jaguar XK180

Sun 18th Feb 2018

Sometimes your cheque book won’t stretch to purchasing your dream motor. But don’t worry too much, there are some cars that even the biggest bank balances can’t buy, the dream cars that will forever remain a dream. These are the concept cars that never get made.

Jaguar XK180
Presented at the 1999 Paris Motor Show, Jaguar's concept car was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous XK model.

With a 4.0 litre supercharged V8 engine, delivered via a five-speed automatic gearbox and rear wheel drive, the XK18 could achieve speeds of 180mph and from standstill could reach 100km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Despite those impressive statistics, which suggests it had some real-life testing, the roofless beauty of the XK180 would remain simply a concept car - simply because the Jaguar bosses didn't think it made financial sense to produce.

However, there are still those who crave the majestic beauty of this Jaguar and some willing to assist with those dreams, with one company based out of the Netherlands putting together replica XK180s from the original aluminium base of the Jaguar XKR. Not the real thing, but the nearest we will ever get to the original concept.
