These SUVs Get Five-Star Euro NCAP Ratings

Tue 26th Feb 2019

The first crash test scores of 2019 are in and it's good news for three popular SUVs which have achieved top safety ratings.

The trend for SUVs continues to be on the rise, but the big vehicles can often be a daunting drive for the less experienced driver, so it can be reassuring that if ever an accident happens the safety of the passengers within will be paramount.

The Euro NCAP ratings are the standard rating for safety in a crash and this year have even tougher regulations, but that hasn’t stopped the Honda CR-V, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and SEAT Tarraco getting top marks.

The Honda CR-V has a starting price of £25,995, but you can buy a nearly new 2018 plate model with just 6,000 on the clock from CarSupermarket.com for a lot less, including free delivery.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of the most luxurious SUVs on the market and comes at the top end of the price range with a starting price of £94,000. But the SEAT Tarraco is much more affordable with prices starting at £28,000.

Speaking about the ratings Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General of Euro NCAP, said: “Here we have three new vehicles, competing in the same segment and getting top safety ratings.

"That’s impressive enough but the fact that all three off-roaders are equipped with pedestrian and cyclist AEB systems really demonstrates the power of consumer testing not only to encourage better performance but also to promote new technologies as standard-fit across Europe.”
