Infiniti, the luxury car brand of Japanese car maker, Nissan, has teased a glimpse of their new Prototype 10 concept car.
Set to be unveiled at the the 2018 Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach, the futuristic Prototype 10 is in stark contrast to the Prototype 9, which was debuted at the same event this time last year. Whilst the 9 paid homage to the Grand Prix race cars of the 1930s, the electrified single-seat speedster 10 is expected to be the brand’s Halo car.
“The INFINITI Prototype 10 echoes the layout and design of some of the most evocative car designs of all time, where power was celebrated through high-powered single-seat competition cars,” said Infiniti’s Executive Design Director, Karim Habib.
“Our new concept speaks of an electrified future, something which is reflected in its form and details. It is appropriate that we found inspiration in an optimistic bygone era in which cars were characterized by the simple love of driving.”
Whilst electric vehicles are very much the future, the ethos of Infiniti’s headline act is to take the thrill and excitement of motor engines and deliver them in an electric car experience. If we are judging the Prototype 10 on its looks alone then it certainly has the potential to take your breath away. This is not the car to take the family on a leisurely drive to the seaside, you wouldn’t fit them in. With its extravagant hood, maxed out alloy wheel and super-slim windshield, this car would not look out of place in a F1 race, say in 50 years time. This beast doesn’t even have a door.
No actual news on an engine, but we don’t expect it will be using the same powertrain as it’s little cousin, the Nissan Leaf. All will be revealed at Pebble Beach on August 23rd.
