Toyota Have Given One Of Their Most Popular Models A Facelift – What Do You Think?

Mon 5th Mar 2018

It may have been one of Toyota’s huge success stories in the UK, but the Aygo has divided opinion across the country due its compact or squashed looks. Well four years into its life, it has finally been given a new look.

The second generation Toyota Aygo will get extra performance, sleek refinement and some visual tweeks, but in terms of the engine, it still won’t knock your socks off.

With a three-cylinder, 1-litre engine, with new injection hardware, a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and low-friction components. A modified balancer shaft should kill some of the vibrations you experience when sat waiting at the traffic lights, whilst the changes will take the power outage to 71bhp.

Modified suspension and steering systems are amongst the other changes, whilst sound and vibration are the focus of the interior also as sound deadening is an improvement behind the dashboard, front pillars and doors – so it won’t sound as cheap and economical as it once did.

Clearly it is the exterior that will have Aygo fans salivating, the trademark X-shaped nose remains but there are new LED headlights, a new grille and a restyled front apron, which give the Aygo a nice fresh look. There’s not too much changed at the rear, however new tail lights give it something special.

Inside the Aygo, there aren’t too many visual changes, though fans of the city car might notice revitalised backing graphics for the instrument cluster and there are some trendy new trim finishes.

If you want to update your Aygo to the new look you will have to wait till later this year, though you can take a look at it after it was revealed at the Geneva motor show this week.
