The British public will get to see Volvo’s new standalone brand in July, when it makes its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Polestar 1, is the first of Volvo’s new performance brand and it will be revealed for the first time when it tackles Goodwood’s famous Hill Climb.
Volvo have enjoyed a stellar year, but the Polestar brand has been eagerly anticipated and the chance to get up close to the new car will be taken by many. With a 592bhp from a 2.0 litre petrol and electric hybrid motor, the Polestar is expected to be quick. However there will be a lot to live up to, with an expected price-tag of £135,000.
Orders are already being taken in the UK for the Polestar and those who have signalled their intent will get a chance to see what they have put their money down for when it goes up the Hill Climb.
The car will be driven by Polestar chief test driver, Joakim Rydholm, who is excited about both the hill and the prospect of getting behind the wheel.
"I am really excited to drive the Polestar 1 prototype up the hill at Goodwood," enthuses Joakim Rydholm. "Driving the hill climb has been a long-time ambition for me, and to be able to do it in the same prototype in which we've spent so many months of development time is truly special."
Though the driven version will be in camouflage, there will be a couple of prototypes in the manufacturer area.
Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar, comments: "I'm thrilled that we're going to be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – it's everything a big car event should be: full of passion, enthusiasm and a chance to get really close to the cars. The response to the Polestar 1 from the UK and northern Europe has been fantastic, and we see this event as a vital part of our continued 'global handshake' with enthusiasts and our customers around the world. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet so many people who share our passion for Polestar and the future of the brand."
