New research has found the number one in-car gadget which Britain’s drivers cannot live without, with smart technology leading the way.
Researchers asked 2,000 people with a driver's licence to name the most important changes in the history of cars. Airbags were chosen as the most important change. Drivers also talked about the top modern car gadgets they couldn't live without, like Bluetooth, LED headlights, and keyless entry.
But technology like GPS sat-nav, back-up cams, and power steering caught up quickly.
Brits also think it's important that their cars can connect to their smartphones and have variable cruise control.
Brits think cars from the 2020s look the coolest because technology is so important to them. The 1960s and 1970s, which came in second and third, didn't even come close.
Over a quarter of drivers (28%) would love to own a classic car, but they would have trouble without current features like electric windows, wing mirrors that show the blind spot, and tyre pressure monitoring.
Nearly half (45%) have also talked about old cars with other people, such as their first car (37%), the car their parents drove when they were young (23%) or their favourite type (21%).
Some of the people who answered said that family trips and the first time they drove after getting their licence were some of the most memorable times in their lives.
One out of ten drivers wants warm features like a heated steering wheel or seats.
And almost one in five (18%) would like their car to have parking sensors or be able to park itself.
