What Is The Most Googled Used Car?

Wed 11th May 2022

Access to a myriad of user car options is now only a mouseclick away with car buyers able to use websites such as CarSupermarket.com to choose their favourite car, buy it and have it delivered - and now analysis of the world’s biggest search engine, Google, has revealed which cars we are searching the web for.

By using search data for all car brands in the UK, the analysis has identified which motors are most popular with the online car buying public, with few surprises.

BMWs are the top brand on Google, with 78,800 searches per month according to the research from the for-sale website. The German brand’s 1 series was most popular, with 12,000 searches, while the 3 series and X3 were also sought after.

In fact Google is curiously skewed towards the German brands, as Audi (59,000 searches) and Mercedes (50,000) complete the top three.

It’s a little interesting that the UK’s most popular used cars in terms of sales, the Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Golf don’t appear to be in demand for keyboard consumers, which may suggest that as a car buyer we often have greater aspirations for luxury over what we can actually afford.

Speaking about the research a spokesperson for For-Sale said “It’s clear from these findings that the idea of owning a used luxury car is appealing to many, with the likes of BMW, Mercedes and Porsche appearing on the list.

“It’s also interesting to see the dominance of German brands, with them making up five places on the list.”
