What Is The UK’s Most Satisfying Car?

A new survey from one of the country’s leading consumer groups has revealed a rather surprising choice as the most satisfying car to drive.

The Which? Car Survey is an annual report which looks at the opinions of thousands of drivers, focusing on how happy they have with owning that particular car and if they were likely to recommend the car to friends. The survey can often throw up some quirky leaders, as often owners will overlook a host of problems simply because the car looks good and makes them feel great and that may be the case with this year’s ‘most satisfying new car’ the Alfa Romeo Guilia.

Often compared to the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4, it’s easy to see why the Guilia might be overlooked by some reviewers and buyers, but those who have actually made the leap and bought the Alfa Romeo are more than happy.

Which? found that those surveyed praised the Guilia’s excellent performance and sharp driving dynamics, with one owner saying: ‘This is an exceptional car with stunning performance and handling. It is good to drive and stands out from other similar cars on the road. It makes me smile every time I drive it.’

The survey also shone the light on the hybrid and EV market, where perhaps unsurprisingly Tesla owners are happy as the proverbial pig with futuristic purchase, many overlooking early teething troubles for the brand for a piece of game-changing technology. ‘It makes conventionally fuelled cars seem like antiques,’ said one owner.

Lexus always does well in customer satisfaction surveys, their GS large saloon comparing well in the luxury and hybrid categories and also ranked as the most satisfying used car overall.

As in all these surveys there has to be a loser, and whisper it quietly but the 2003 Vauxhall Meriva doesn’t get too many votes - but then for a car 17 years old what did they expect?
