Which Profession Is Most Likely To Get Caught Speeding? You Might Be Surprised

Footballers have been knocked off the top of the league of professions which are most likely to be caught speeding on the UK’s roads in 2018.

According to new research from car insurer Admiral, the top profession for speeding tickets is locksmiths, who are obviously keen to get to their jobs to help out those who may be locked out of their car or home. Footballers topped the poll in 2017, bt they don’t even make the Champions League places this year as far as the league of top speeders are concerned.

Bizarrely, offshore rig workers are ranked second in the list of speeders, followed by creative directors, sports coaches and trainers and then chairpersons. Footballers do make the top ten, coming in seventh, one behind curtain blind fitters, which will do nothing for their high-flying image.

Admiral’s research also uncovered which cars were most likely to get a speeding ticket, with the Mercedes-Benz GLE topping the list. More than two third of convictions for speeding are by male drivers, but entertainers have the most traffic signal misdemeanours, clearly keen not to miss their curtain call.

Sabine Williams, Admiral Head of Motors, said: "Motoring convictions carry a fine as well as points on the license, and in addition will lead to higher insurance premiums.

"Statistics show that those who have convictions or penalty points are more likely to be involved in an accident than those who have not, and also make higher value claims than others.

"More importantly failing to adhere to the rules of the road is dangerous to the driver and other individuals using the road.

"We’d urge drivers to think twice before flouting the rules and doing something that could cause physical and financial harm."
