Who Will Win UK Car of the Year?

Tue 18th Feb 2020

Nine winning cars from a range of different categories have been revealed, but which car will follow in the tyremarks of the Jaguar I-Pace and claim the prestigious 2020 UK Car of the Year award?

With 29 journalists voting for the best in category there was good news for Porsche who completed an impressive double by claiming the Best Cabriolet for the 911 and the Best Performance for the Taycan.

The Taycan, an EV, will be hoping to follow in the trend of the I-Pace but is not the only electric vehicle in contention, with the Tesla Model 3 winning the Best Executive motor and the Kia e-Niro winning the Best Crossover.

At the luxury end of the award categories there’s celebrations to be had for the Bentley Flying Spur in the Best Luxury group, which with a top speed of 207mph will be looking to cap the company’s centenary year with a major prize. The Best Premium Crossover was the Range Rover Evoque which was the company’s first category award since the Range Rover Sport claimed a prize at the inaugural awards in 2014.

Now into its sixth year, the UK Car of the Year Awards are designed specifically for the UK car-buying public. It is the calibre of the 29 professional journalist judges that cover the whole industry that lends UKCOTY a gravitas hitherto unrivalled. Geographically all corners of the UK are represented and the judges comprise some of the most respected names in motoring journalism. Many of the judges will drive in excess of 300 cars a year.
